The sea plays a prominent role in the imagery found in my paintings and prints. The opportunity to live and work in the oceanside community of Provincetown, Massachusetts, along with travels to various Caribbean Islands continually nurtures my visual language. The lure into the myths and rituals found in primitive cultures, Carl Jung’s theory of universal symbolism, along with the beauty nature provides are important elements that I draw from. The images emerge through the repeated acts of layering, adding, subtracting and pushing paint around until a resolution into a mysterious psychological world is complete. My passion for music is a strong and powerful part of my creative process. I’m always seeking and searching for inspiration from music and musicians that have crossed my path on one level or another.
